I practice Western clinical herbalism.  The underlying philosophy of western herbalism is the same as any system of traditional healing; Traditional Chinese Medicine, Unani-Tibb, Ayurveda are all systems of traditional medicine.  What distinguishes Western clinical herbalism from these other systems of healing is twofold: first, I use mostly plants from North America and I favor plants that are indigenous to the southern United States.  I believe that the best medicine grows all around us- sometimes it’s right at our back door.  More than once, I’ve gone to a client’s home and made my recommendations based on the type of plants that were growing in the client’s yard.  Secondly, I specialize in disorders that Westerners typically present.  Westerners are different from Asians and Indians. We need our own system of healing based on terminology that Westerners understand.  I will never tell you that your chi is weakened.  However, I might say this:  “your immune system is weakened right now because your digestive capacity is also weakened.  This ultimately affects every system in your body because your body’s ability to process fuel is compromised.  I might suggest a cleanse.  It all depends on the person sitting in front of me and how their imbalance is manifesting.

The best way to work with me, especially if you have a chronic health condition, is to come in for an initial work-up and follow up with appointments at one month or six-week intervals.  Protocols always need adjusting and as the body heals, its need for herbs changes several times.  Using the same herbs month after month can actually impair the healing process.
An herbal consultation does not replace the services of a trained physician.  I believe that conventional medicine complemented by traditional healing practices are needed to achieve the optimal health.

I see clients locally and for phone consults.  All work is by appointment only.
Consulting increments are offered in 15 minute increments up to an hour.
